Although he was introduced to photography with a professional camera that his grandfather gave him in his childhood years, Salvator Barki gained his photographer identity in his late 40s. Born in Istanbul in 1956, Salvator Barki describes taking photographs as “A good reason to wake up, to start the day!” Having completed his primary school at Şişli Terakki High School, and secondary and high school at Nişantaşı Anatolian High School, which was then English High School, Barki completed his university education on Economy/Textile and Marketing in Manchester / England.
Barki received his photography education at IFSAK. Later turned as a professional photographer working on interiors and especially hotels, the artist defines himself as a travel photographer. He continues to take pictures wherever he travels. Even while walking on the streets of Istanbul… Barki says that he doesn’t travel without a camera in his hand and adds, “If I catch a beautiful composition, such as a landscape that catches my attention, a different stance of nature, the right light in the right place, I will not hesitate to press the shutter button.” The artist, who prefers to take stylishly designed photographs, increases his chances of catching the right frame by waiting for the right time and the right light.
